Bath salts are a popular synthetic drug being used today. Unfortunately, it is not detectable in the common drug screen. It’s easy to purchase and have even been completely legal until only a short while ago. In fact, I used to see these products being sold next to the register at the local liquor stores, it was that easy to buy.
What are bath salts?
These bath salts have nothing to do with real bath salts that we put in the bathtub. The actual chemical makeup is unknown because there has been no way to test for these substances. However, this is changing and tests are being developed.
Why do people take bath salts?
Perhaps bath salts are taken because of the increased pulse and hallucinations. However, the effects also include chest pain, paranoia and high blood pressure. Users also experience suicidal thinking and behavior well after the drugs have worn off.
Are bath salts illegal?
As of July 2012, it is illegal to possess, use or distribute many of the chemicals used to make bath salts. The law covers 26 chemicals, all of which are ingredients to synthetic drugs.
The dangers of these drugs are real. They aren’t talk about much, so the risks are high not only for young people who tend to experiment, but for any user.
The following video not only portrays the effects of bath salts on its user, but also the long term consequences of using.
